Welcome to a weekend filled with the forest, knowledge, and the fascinating world of fungi. Over two days, we will immerse ourselves in mushrooms, focusing on species identification, foraging, and how to make the most of the forest’s pantry.

This is a practical and inspiring course for anyone who wants to learn how to identify, pick, and preserve mushrooms. No prior knowledge is required; the course is suitable for both beginners and those looking to deepen their existing skills. All you need is curiosity and a desire to learn.

What You Will Experience

Throughout the weekend, we will guide you through the world of fungi, combining theory with practical sessions in the forest. You will learn about edible mushrooms, poisonous varieties, risks of misidentification, and how to forage sustainably.

Day 1: Species Knowledge and Forest Excursion

We begin with the basics of mycology, where you will learn to recognize common edible mushrooms and their characteristics. We will cover the anatomy and relationships of fungi, and during the day, we will head out into the forest to forage together and practice identification in the field.

Day 2: History and Preservation

We will dive into how mushrooms have been viewed historically in Sweden, as well as the myths and stories associated with them. You will learn various ways to preserve mushrooms, including drying, pickling, and cooking. We will also try our hand at creating our own fermentation to take home.

Both days include a lunch focused on mushrooms, where you will get to taste different varieties and find inspiration for new ways to prepare them.
